Matthew Tomlin has been playing squash ever since he transitioned to the sport from tennis at eight years old. Despite having neither a Poly Upper School squash team nor club team to join in his local area, Tomlin has competed independently across the country in various tournaments, traveling to six tournaments this past season. Tomlin is rated a 6.28 out of 7.0 on the official squash rating scale, a score reserved for highly competitive squash players and even lower-tiered professionals. His success is further reflected in his national ranking where he currently sits 13th in the U19 age group. Next year, he will participate in Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s squash program and compete at the Division III level. Excited to be on his first team, experience team culture, and learn from upperclassmen both on and off the court, Tomlin has a bright future ahead of him. The Poly community wishes him continued athletic success and the best at MIT. Go Beavers!
