This Earth Day is a good time to remember that our actions don’t exist in a vacuum. Reducing your consumption of animal products and fossil fuels or picking up trash may seem trivial when compared to private jet flights that produce several tons of carbon emissions in under an hour. However, individual actions over time can set social norms for our society, making environmentally conscious behaviors standard practice.
