As the year begins, the Life Section wanted to remind everyone of key experiences they should fulfill before graduating. Whether you’re a freshman or senior, new to Poly or a lifer, we know that every high school experience is different; however, trying a few of the items on this bucket list may help you step out of your comfort zone and create lifelong memories you’ll be grateful for after receiving your diploma. Read senior Sophie Ankeles’s list below for ideas to spice up your year.
- Touch grass
- Read for fun (not just for your English class)
- Learn a new language
- Make friendship bracelets
- Plan a group costume for Halloween
- Attend a party
- Come up with a life-defining senior quote
- Get your driver’s license
- Drive your friends around (only after the probationary period ends, of course)
- Decorate your car
- Attend all games (including your own)
- Attend all play productions (trigger a standing ovation every night)
- Vote in the 2026 US Midterm Election if 18
- Coordinate a flash mob
- Learn new recipes and share your baked goods with classmates
- Ask someone out
- Get rejected after asking someone out
- Attend a Build-A-Bear workshop to recover from rejection
- Come up with better passwords for all accounts before college
- Reenact the plot of “Booksmart” (2019)
- Stop by your elementary school
- Put together a memory box
- Bake a graduation cake
- Buy Valentine’s Day gifts for all your classmates
- Have a sleepover with your friends
- Pull a reverse all-nighter (sleep 24 hrs)
