The Paw Print is excited to complement our written journalism with a new form of media by launching “The Pawdcast.”
For Episode 1, Editors-in-Chief Madeleine Kashkooli, Ashley Kim and Greg Panossian interviewed Paw Print founder and Poly Class of 1991 alum Joe Mathews. Mathews is a journalist and the founder-publisher of Democracy Local, a planetary publication on local democracy, and a fellow in the democracy program at the Berggruen Institute. He serves as Democracy editor and syndicated California columnist at Zócalo Public Square.
Mathews recently joined the Poly Upper School on Thursday, Mar. 13 for an assembly focused on democracy and then in a Community Forum later that day. On Wednesday, Apr. 23, he sat down with the Editors-in-Chief to discuss recent developments around the Trump administration’s recent changes to the White House press pool as well as emerging issues in the journalism industry concerning bias, trust in the media, the spread of misinformation online and more.
