In this comic, our spud learns about Marx’s “central thesis” in a history class and feels inspired. She takes her friend to a protest and laments the ailments of a capitalist society. However, she is later seen calling her servant Bartholemew to return to her mansion, driving past a dilapidated city. Comfortable in her bed, she smiles with gleeful satisfaction, utterly unaware of her hypocrisy. While it would be easy to criticize our spud, I think her behavior can, in many ways, reflect the subtle (or not-so-subtle) inconsistencies that many of us at Poly and beyond live with. Do our behaviors always align with our supposed beliefs?
